Virginia Man Sentenced to Nearly 5 Years in Prison for Meth, Fentanyl Conspiracy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"253\" data-end=\"472\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong data-start=\"253\" data-end=\"271\">BECKLEY, W.Va.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"253\" data-end=\"472\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-26743 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/FentanylTabletsDEA04222016-300x169.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"394\" height=\"222\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/FentanylTabletsDEA04222016-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/FentanylTabletsDEA04222016.png 652w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 394px) 100vw, 394px\" \/>Mark Anderson Staples,<\/strong> 53, of Beckley, was sentenced to four years and nine months in federal prison for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaine base, commonly known as crack.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" title=\"\" data-start=\"474\" data-end=\"791\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Staples admitted participating in a drug trafficking organization that distributed drugs in Beckley and elsewhere in West Virginia, according to court records. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" title=\"\" data-start=\"474\" data-end=\"791\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Prosecutors said he supplied and distributed methamphetamine between April and May 2024, with at least 1.5 pounds attributed to him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"793\" data-end=\"932\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Staples was one of 12 defendants charged in a conspiracy spanning June 2023 through May 2024. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"793\" data-end=\"932\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">All remaining defendants have pleaded guilty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"934\" data-end=\"1255\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The sentence was imposed by <strong data-start=\"962\" data-end=\"1003\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Frank W. Volk<\/span><\/span><\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"934\" data-end=\"1255\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy D. Boggess and former Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew D. Isabell and investigated by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies as part of the <strong data-start=\"1213\" data-end=\"1254\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force<\/span><\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BECKLEY, W.Va.
