Prosecutors said patients were warned they faced amputation if they declined treatment, despite little risk of amputation for mildly symptomatic peripheral artery disease.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"2018\" data-end=\"2113\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">One Medicare patient allegedly underwent about 16 atherectomy procedures between 2019 and 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"2115\" data-end=\"2158\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The government further alleged Dr. Serrano:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2160\" data-end=\"2463\">\n<li data-start=\"2160\" data-end=\"2256\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Performed procedures on blood vessels that did not meet accepted medical treatment standards<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2257\" data-end=\"2325\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Overstated the severity of arterial narrowing in medical records<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2326\" data-end=\"2392\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Falsely documented symptoms and conservative treatment efforts<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2393\" data-end=\"2463\"><span
