{"id":61241,"date":"2026-07-23T19:32:06","date_gmt":"2026-07-24T02:32:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=61241"},"modified":"2026-07-23T19:32:06","modified_gmt":"2026-07-24T02:32:06","slug":"california-man-indicted-maine-sex-trafficking-wire-fraud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=61241","title":{"rendered":"California Man Indicted in Maine on Federal Sex Trafficking, Wire Fraud Charges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p title=\"\" data-start=\"532\" data-end=\"804\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong data-start=\"532\" data-end=\"546\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5414 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/U.S.-Department-of-Homeland-Security-300x184.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"184\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/U.S.-Department-of-Homeland-Security-300x184.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/U.S.-Department-of-Homeland-Security.jpg 584w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>WASHINGTON<\/strong> \u2014 A federal grand jury in the District of Maine has returned a six-count indictment charging <strong data-start=\"640\" data-end=\"688\">Shawn Bonneau, 40, of Fullerton, California,<\/strong> for allegedly <strong data-start=\"694\" data-end=\"742\">sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"747\" data-end=\"761\">wire fraud<\/strong>, the U.S. Department of Justice announced.<\/span><\/p>\n<p title=\"\" data-start=\"806\" data-end=\"1047\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">According to court documents, from <strong data-start=\"841\" data-end=\"879\">January 2016 through December 2023<\/strong>, Bonneau allegedly compelled <strong data-start=\"909\" data-end=\"930\">three adult women<\/strong> to engage in commercial sex acts in Maine and elsewhere through force, fraud, or coercion for his financial benefit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p title=\"\" data-start=\"1049\" data-end=\"1220\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Federal prosecutors also allege that during the same period, Bonneau used electronic mail systems as part of a scheme to fraudulently obtain money from another individual.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1222\" data-end=\"1401\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">If convicted, Bonneau faces up to <strong data-start=\"1316\" data-end=\"1357\">life imprisonment<\/strong>, and up to <strong data-start=\"1369\" data-end=\"1400\">lifetime supervised release<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1586\" data-end=\"1731\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The case is being investigated by <strong data-start=\"1620\" data-end=\"1730\">U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement&#8217;s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) New England Field Office<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p title=\"\" data-start=\"1733\" data-end=\"1884\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">An indictment contains allegations only.
