Cadman helped organize the traffic stop and arrest for Iza and received cash payments while working for him, prosecutors said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"2089\" data-end=\"2329\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">Cadman also received at least $40,500 in income that he knowingly failed to report on his 2021 federal income tax return, which he signed and filed with the IRS in February 2022. He owed approximately $11,000 in federal taxes for that year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"2331\" data-end=\"2596\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">\u201cOur legal system entrusts law enforcement officers with extraordinary authority,\u201d prosecutors wrote in a sentencing memorandum. \u201cThose powers carry a corresponding duty to uphold constitutional rights, exercise sound judgment, and serve the public with integrity.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"2598\" data-end=\"2838\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">Prosecutors said an officer\u2019s abuse of authority harms more than the immediate victim because it undermines confidence in the rule of law, weakens trust in government institutions and damages the reputations of officers who serve honorably.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"2840\" data-end=\"2938\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">Cadman is one of five former LASD deputies convicted in connection with Iza\u2019s criminal activities:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2940\" data-end=\"3892\">\n<li data-section-id=\"61355m\" data-start=\"2940\" data-end=\"3207\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\"><strong data-start=\"2942\" data-end=\"2984\">Michael David Coberg, 45, of Eastvale,<\/strong> is serving 63 months in federal prison for helping Iza extort a rival and arranging the sham arrest of another adversary on an illegal drug possession allegation in Paramount in 2021. Anderson sentenced Coberg on March 16.<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"kfbq05\" data-start=\"3209\" data-end=\"3414\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\"><strong data-start=\"3211\" data-end=\"3249\">Scott Allen Simpkins, 34, of Brea,<\/strong> was sentenced July 13 to 18 months in federal prison for obstructing an investigation into Iza\u2019s extortion of $25,000 from a party planner at Iza\u2019s Bel Air mansion.<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"141x85h\" data-start=\"3416\" data-end=\"3686\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\"><strong data-start=\"3418\" data-end=\"3463\">David Anthony Rodriguez, 45, of La Verne,<\/strong> was sentenced July 20 to one year in federal prison. Rodriguez, who worked for Iza as a private security guard, pleaded guilty to submitting a false search warrant application to a state court judge for a different client.<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"8l9njq\" data-start=\"3688\" data-end=\"3892\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\"><strong data-start=\"3690\" data-end=\"3728\">Eric Chase Saavedra, 42, of Chino,<\/strong> a former LASD deputy and federal task force officer, pleaded guilty in February 2025 to conspiracy against rights and making and subscribing to a false tax return.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"3894\" data-end=\"4207\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">Saavedra founded Saavedra &amp; Associates LLC, a security company that provided protection for Iza and hired LASD deputies. Prosecutors said Saavedra misused his authority as a law enforcement officer to obtain court-approved search warrants connected to efforts to intimidate, threaten and harass Iza\u2019s adversaries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"4209\" data-end=\"4266\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7857 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/FBI-Logo-289x300.png\" alt=\"FBI Latest Hate Crime Report: Hate Crimes Down Slightly in America\" width=\"289\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/FBI-Logo-289x300.png 289w, https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/FBI-Logo.png 636w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 289px) 100vw, 289px\" \/>Saavedra is expected to be sentenced in the coming weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"4268\" data-end=\"4546\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">In a related case, Iza\u2019s former girlfriend, Iris Ramaya Au, 37, of Irvine, pleaded guilty in March 2025 to subscribing to a false tax return. Prosecutors said she failed to report more than $2.6 million in illegally obtained money she received through Iza\u2019s criminal activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"4548\" data-end=\"4667\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">Au faces a statutory maximum sentence of three years in federal prison. Her sentencing is expected in the coming weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"4669\" data-end=\"4795\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">The FBI and IRS Criminal Investigation investigated the case with assistance from the Los Angeles County Sheriff\u2019s Department.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\" data-start=\"4797\" data-end=\"4891\"><span style=\"font-size: 21px;\">Assistant U.S. Attorney Maxwell K.
