\"West\"\"LOS ANGELES<\/strong> <\/span>\u2014 A South Los Angeles man pleaded not guilty to federal charges alleging he violently sex trafficked two teenage girls along the Figueroa Corridor, supplied drugs to one of them and attempted to kidnap a woman who escaped from his apartment after he allegedly assaulted her, officials stated Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n

Derrick Harrison Enrico Brooks Jr., 31, of Baldwin Village, was arraigned in U.S. District Court in downtown Los Angeles on a four-count federal indictment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Brooks faces two counts of sex trafficking of children by force, fraud or coercion, one count of distributing controlled substances to a person younger than 21 and one count of attempted kidnapping.<\/span><\/p>\n

He pleaded not guilty to all charges. His trial is scheduled for Dec. 1, and a federal magistrate judge ordered him held without bond last month.<\/span><\/p>\n

Allegations involving a 15-year-old girl<\/span><\/h3>\n

According to the indictment, criminal complaint and other court documents, Brooks allegedly trafficked a 15-year-old girl in November 2025, transporting her from California to Colorado in a green limousine for commercial sexual exploitation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Federal prosecutors allege Brooks demanded that the girl earn $1,000 a day and repeatedly physically assaulted her. During one attack, the girl reportedly feared she would die from the violence.<\/span><\/p>\n

Brooks also allegedly posted an advertisement for the girl on Craigslist.<\/span><\/p>\n

The teenager eventually returned to Los Angeles and escaped from Brooks while being trafficked along the Figueroa Corridor, a roughly 3.5-mile stretch of Figueroa Street in South Los Angeles known for commercial sex activity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Second teenager allegedly assaulted and given Ecstasy<\/span><\/h3>\n

Federal authorities allege Brooks trafficked a second girl, 17, during January and February 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n

The teenager also was allegedly exploited along the Figueroa Corridor, where prosecutors say Brooks physically assaulted her and knowingly supplied her with Ecstasy, commonly known as MDMA.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both girls are identified in court documents by victim numbers to protect their identities.<\/span><\/p>\n

Woman allegedly attacked after escaping apartment<\/span><\/h3>\n

In a separate incident in August 2026, Brooks allegedly assaulted a woman inside his Baldwin Village apartment, choking her and punching her in the face.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to court documents, the woman escaped and fled to a nearby mobile phone store.<\/span><\/p>\n

Brooks allegedly followed her to the store and attempted to kidnap her.<\/span><\/p>\n

Law enforcement officers arrested Brooks approximately two weeks after the alleged attempted kidnapping.<\/span><\/p>\n

Potential life sentence<\/span><\/h3>\n

If convicted on all counts, Brooks faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.<\/span><\/p>\n

The charges are allegations, and Brooks is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.<\/span><\/p>\n
