KANSAS CITY, KANSAS<\/strong> \u2014The former technology director for the City of Lenexa admitted on Monday that he illegally used municipal money to purchased \u00a0electronic devices such as iPads, computers, digital cameras televisions and other merchandise to give to friends, according to officials.<\/p>\n

Andrew L. Davey<\/strong>, 44, Overland Park, Kan., pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud.<\/p>\n

In his plea, he admitted the crime occurred from 2010 to 2012 while he was the director of technology for the City of Lenexa.<\/p>\n

After he left the city to take another job, \u00a0officials said city officials discovered he had purchased numerous electronic devices, such as iPads, computers, digital cameras and televisions which he gave to friends, traded for other merchandise or services, or sold on eBay and kept the proceeds.<\/p>\n

For instance, he gave iPads to members of his church, and traded an iPad to another city employee for wheels and tires. The other employee was not aware the iPad belonged to the city, officials said.<\/p>\n

He gave his mother a 50-inch television and iPad that were purchased with city funds. He told her the equipment was obsolete and the city no longer needed it, officials said.<\/p>\n

Sentencing is set January. Both parties have agreed that Davey will serve a year in prison and pay $103,677 as restitution, officials said.<\/p>\n
