{"id":7959,"date":"2014-12-12T13:19:26","date_gmt":"2014-12-12T21:19:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=7959"},"modified":"2014-12-12T13:19:26","modified_gmt":"2014-12-12T21:19:26","slug":"drug-dealer-admits-selling-molly-concert-goer-died-drug-overdose","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/?p=7959","title":{"rendered":"Drug Dealer Admits Selling &#8220;Molly&#8221; to Concert Goer Who Died of Drug Overdose"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NEW YORK<\/strong> \u00a0&#8211; \u00a0A 24-year-old drug dealer who sold the drug &#8220;Molly&#8221; to a concert-goer who died as a result plead guilty to conspiring to distribution of narcotics, said officials.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_7970\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7970\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/molly12n-3-web-e1418418864655.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7970 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/cjnotebook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/molly12n-3-web-e1418418864655-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"molly12n-3-web\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-7970\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Patrick Murphy (Photo: New York Daily News)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Patrick Morgan<\/strong> was arrested in July and charged with selling &#8220;Molly,&#8221; which is a combination of the drug &#8220;Ectasy&#8221; and &#8220;Methylone,&#8221;to three people including <strong>Jeffrey Russ<\/strong> at an electronic dance music concert in 2013 in New York, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>Russ died at a Harlem Hospital from acute intoxication by drug overdose with hyperthermia. Hyperthermia means his body heat was way above normal, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith today\u2019s guilty plea, Patrick Morgan now stands convicted of conspiring to distribute the drug Molly, which led to the tragic death of Jeffery Russ,&#8221;Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said &#8221; This Office remains committed to aggressively pursuing and prosecuting those who peddle this extremely dangerous drug.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Morgan is facing up to 20 years in prison. \u00a0He is scheduled to be sentenced in March.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Acoording to federal prosecutors and evidence this are the facts and circumstances surrounding this case.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In mid-August 2013, Morgan\u00a0sold one of the three people about 80 Molly pills that Morgan understood the three would take and distribute at an Electric Zoo concert.<\/p>\n<p>The three including Russ intended to take and distribute these Molly pills at the Electric Zoo music festival. Electric Zoo was a three-day, outdoor electronic dance music festival on Randall\u2019s Island, New York, scheduled to be held from August 30, 2013, through September 1, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Attendance at Electric Zoo was estimated to be over 130,000 people.<\/p>\n<p>Toward the end of the concert, \u00a0Russ collapsed and had a seizure. Russ was treated by emergency medical technicians on Randall\u2019s Island and ultimately taken to Harlem Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>When Russ arrived at Harlem Hospital, he was unresponsive.
