Police officers gave hostage Michael L. Funk no warning to drop his handgun before they shot and killed him Dec. 5 outside Eagle Nation Cycles, according to video evidence obtained exclusively by USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin.
A prepared statement that was issued by Neenah Police Chief Kevin Wilkinson about 10 hours after the shooting said Funk was shot after he didn’t obey police commands to drop his handgun.

A Medford man was arrested and charged with threatening the president of the United States on Thursday night, the FBI said.
John Martin Roos, 61, was taken into custody following a search of his apartment that also turned up several pipe bombs, officials said.
Agents made a probable cause arrest of Roos, charging him with threatening the president of the United States and use of an interstate facility to transmit threats.

A police officer has been fired after body camera footage helped reveal that he lied about a suspect’s actions, prompting a charge in the case to be rejected, police said.
Fort Worth officer Aaron Cade, who had been with the department since July 2009, has appealed.
“The burden is on the City to prove the allegations they’ve alleged,” said Craig Driskell, Cade’s attorney with the Combined Law Enforcement Association of Texas. “We’ll see how that plays out at arbitration.”
