SEATTLE
Federal agents on Wednesday arrested a Seattle psychologist and charged him with attempting to entice a minor for sex, officials announced.
Jonathan Brent Wulf, 61, posted an ad on Craigslist beginning a conversation with an undercover agent for Homeland Security, according to authorities.
Wulf is facing a prison sentence ranging from 10 years to life in prison.
Through various communications by phone and internet on Craigslist, Wulf expressed his desire to have sex with the agent’s fictional 12-year-old stepdaughter. Wulf was arrested yesterday when he arrived at the hotel selected as the meeting place for the sexual encounter.
Wulf appeared in U.S. District Court in Seattle and is being detained pending a detention hearing on Friday.
According to the criminal complaint, over a two week period in September, Wulf repeatedly communicated with the undercover agent about his desire to have sex with the agent’s fictional 12-year-old stepdaughter.
Wulf repeatedly suggested that all text messages or other internet communications regarding his interest in underage sex should be deleted. Wulf also repeatedly acknowledged that pursuing sex with a minor was illegal, officials said.
Wulf is currently employed as a psychologist with a Seattle medical group.
The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The case is being investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
Hello:
I worked with Jonathan B Wulf PsyD for over 10 years. During that time, I repeatedly brought concerns to leadership about professional deficiencies including poor professional boundaries, inadequate clinical knowledge, and non-standard clinical practices. Despite substantial clinical and mental health expertise, those concerns were seemingly dismissed considering no protective measures were put into place (an example includes clinical supervision) and no change plans were developed.
Sincerely,
KDW
