Texas right-wing extremists like Ken Paxton and Gregg Abbott have consistently disrespected Latinos, viewing anyone with brown skin as subhuman invaders.

I once lived just two miles from the Walmart in El Paso, where a racist gunman armed with an assault rifle killed 23 people.
His motive?
The false narrative that illegal immigrants were “invading” America, which Donald Trump and other white supremacists were pushing.
