Feds: 28 Female Correction Officers Were Discriminated Against at Michigan Prison

The Department of Justice filed a lawsuit alleging that the Michigan Department of Corrections discriminated against female corrections officers, federal officials announced today.
The complaint alleges that beginning in 2009, the Department of Corrections discriminated against female correctional officers working at its only prison for female inmates, Huron Valley.

A murder charge was dropped against the owner of pit bulls that killed 4-year-old Xavier Strickland in December.
The prosecution asked the judge to allow the jury to decide on the murder charge first and then revisit the ruling down the road.
“There has been inadequate evidence presented to this court, for that count No. 1 to be submitted to the jury,” said Judge Michael Callahan. “And I will not wait for the jury to decide it, I’ve already done it.”

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah prosecutors said Friday that they won’t seek the death penalty against Joshua Schoenenberger who accused of beating his girlfriend’s 2-year-old son to death over potty training, according to publish reports.
Schoenenberger is accused of getting angry because James Siger Jr. used his diaper rather than the toilet. He’s accused of stepping on the child’s stomach in May 2015, causing fatal internal injuries.

The motorcyclist’s helmet camera captured the nearly seven-minute exchange with the officer.
